Explore, research. Go on a trip, far away. Coming back with pockets full of fragments of reality soon transformed into sharp songs, songwriter Pierre Welsh has done this all his life. The man is enigmatic, discreet, but he traces a straight path like the mast of a boat.

The expedition of the moment is called OAKS: it is a rock group, powerful, sovereign, but even more an artistic collective, where everyone creates intuitively, during live sessions of great freedom, but where listening to the other chants time and instant.

Child of rock since the 90s in the groups Chelsea then Melville, Welsh has crossed the decades with writing projects adopting sometimes the musicality of the English language, sometimes the edge of French, only showing himself on stage in such a way sporadic like at La Maroquinerie or La Boule Noire. Haunted by a certain idea of beauty, fed by Russian authors as well as American literature, Pierre Welsh wields the dark and the saber; chooses to be there, intensely, then absent the next moment, like a Salinger or a Terence Malick … Is it the need for freedom that pushed the unclassifiable songwriter to found December Square, “Music house” and place of creation?
